Historic Downtown Stuart Florida
Welcome to Stuart Florida on the Treasure Coast. I’m Lisa Ammons and I’d like to tell you a little bit about Downtown Stuart. Stuart and all of our Martin County neighborhoods offer excellent “A” rated schools, a family friendly environment, and some of the best home values you will find in South Florida.
Like many people, Stuart residence like to spend some of their leisure time enjoying the outdoors, shopping and dining. So of course, when the weekend comes around you can bet your bottom dollar there is always something fun to do in the historical down town area of Stuart. Located right long the St. Lucie River which offers breathtaking views, cool breezes and a boardwalk so that you can stroll with your family and friends. You will find numerous options for river front dining, live entertainment and shopping.
So, I mentioned entertainment, and I know everyone likes a great show, so why not checkout downtown? The Downtown Business Association of Stuart and Stuart Main Street host what’s called, the “Rock’n Riverwalk Music Series”, this is a free open air concert on the Riverwalk Stage every Sunday from 1 – 4 p.m. What started out as a February through November affair has now grown into a year-round weekly event which not only entertains, but thrills the residents of Stuart, Martin County and visitors from surrounding areas on the Treasure Coast. Music ranges from jazz, blues, rock n’ roll, reggae and country! Enjoy food and drinks from vendors and the many surrounding restaurants while you groove to the live music right on the beautiful waterfront. This is one of my favorite things to do in Martin County when I’m not on the water boating or diving.
In addition to the Music series, Sunday also features a farmer’s market loaded with fresh produce, treats and crafts. You will certainly enjoy this open air shopping experience if you’re looking to kill time on a Sunday after church. But that’s not all.
Downtown Stuart also has the historic LYRIC theater which offers outstanding entertainment with Broadway shows and live music. The Lyric Theater was built in 1925 and originally operated as a silent movie house until depression, when it was closed and eventually sold. However, in 1987, a downtown redevelopment effort got underway and rehabilitated the historic theater.
Since that time, the Lyric Theater has hosted hundreds of events ranging from classical theater, to rock and country bands, orchestra and jazz concerts, dance recitals and has presented nationally known performers for many of these great shows.
If you’re looking for a wealth of things to keep you busy the streets of downtown Stuart are lined with a wide variety of shops and boutiques. The merchandise is unique, has a nice coastal feel and there is plenty of product choices. You will also find many cafes, specialty shops and even fine dining options to choose from. And of course, if you want a great view you can dine directly on the waterfront.
Shop, dine and unwind in historic downtown Stuart, you will love the warm family friendly atmosphere.
Hope to see you soon.
